My own job as a postman normally takes myself from village to town during the mountainous Lungnak Valley of Zanskar. It offers me the freedom to roam regarding, match my group and search simple fascination for petroglyphs – classic stones carved with inscriptions, matchmaking dating back the Bronze Age!
Zanskar takes the term from the classic Tibetan words, actually meaning ‘related to copper’. Found on the shores belonging to the great Zanskar ocean, it is merely obtainable by-road during the summer, after an 18-hour journey from Leh, with an overnight stay in Kargil! Enroute lie the Penzi Los Angeles move at 14,436 foot, as well spectacular Drang Drung Glacier.
It won’t feel incorrect to say that Zanskar – along with its breathtaking canals, channels, unaltered hills and marmots – is probably the minimal researched sites on this planet. (more…)
